1

Create your Tasty Bot Tastic account

Head to the signup page and register with your email address. You'll receive a confirmation email — click the link to verify your account before logging in.

After verifying, sign in at the signin page. Your dashboard is your home base for managing your subscription, reviewing bot status, and monitoring your account.

2

Open a tastytrade margin account

Tasty Bot Tastic connects exclusively to tastytrade®. You need a tastytrade margin account — a tastytrade account is required even for paper trading, since all live market data is streamed through your tastytrade connection.

Opening a tastytrade account is free. During the application, request options approval:

Level 2

Required for defined-risk strategies: iron condors, credit spreads, butterflies. This is the minimum level needed for most bots.

Level 3

Required for undefined-risk strategies such as naked puts. Only apply for Level 3 if you understand the full risk of uncovered positions.

tastytrade is generally accommodating with options approval for active traders. If you're denied Level 3 initially, you can trade defined-risk strategies at Level 2 and apply to upgrade later.

3

Connect your tastytrade account

Tasty Bot Tastic is a registered Trusted Third Party with tastytrade. Connecting takes about 60 seconds — you authorize us directly through tastytrade's secure site. Your tastytrade password never touches our servers.

How to connect:

1
Open your TBT dashboard → Profile tab

Click your avatar or the Profile link in the top navigation of your dashboard.

2
Click "Connect TastyTrade"

You'll be redirected to tastytrade's secure sign-in page. This is tastytrade's own site — we never see your username or password.

3
Log in to tastytrade and click "Authorize"

tastytrade will ask you to confirm that you want to grant Tasty Bot Tastic permission to place trades on your behalf. Click Authorize to confirm.

4
You're redirected back — connection confirmed

Your dashboard will show your tastytrade account number and live buying power. Your bots are now authorized to trade.

You can revoke TBT's access at any time from your tastytrade account under Settings → Third-Party Connections. Revoking access immediately stops all bot activity on your account.

4

Explore the strategies

The Strategies section of your dashboard lists every available bot with its description, entry logic, exit rules, and TBT AI Rank. Read each one carefully before enabling it — every strategy has a different risk profile, trade frequency, and capital requirement.

Defined Risk SPX 0DTE Iron Condor

Sells a same-day iron condor on SPX after the open. Takes profit at 50% and closes at a predefined loss limit. Maximum loss is capped at spread width minus premium received. Trades most weekdays market conditions allow.

Defined Risk SPX 45DTE Credit Put Spread

Sells a put spread approximately 45 days to expiration on a weekly entry schedule. Holds for premium decay and takes profit at a target percentage. Longer duration, less frequent entries than 0DTE strategies.

Undefined Risk ES 120DTE Put Ladder

Sells naked put spreads on /ES futures at approximately 120 days to expiration, entering on Mondays and Fridays. Requires Level 3 approval. Losses are not capped — only use this strategy if you fully understand the downside.

Manual Defined Risk Manual /ES Credit Put Spread

Sell a credit put spread on /ES futures options on demand at any DTE. You trigger the trade manually — the bot fetches the chain, resolves strikes by delta, shows a confirmation dialog, then works the limit order until filled. Monitors take-profit, stop-loss, and DTE time exit automatically. Requires a futures-enabled tastytrade account with /ES options access. Multiplier: $50/point.

Manual Defined Risk Manual /ES Credit Call Spread

Same as the /ES Credit Put Spread but sells a call spread above the market instead. Use when you want to fade a rally or add a bearish leg to an existing position. Same manual trigger flow, same exit logic, same buying power formula. Requires a futures-enabled tastytrade account with /ES options access.

The TBT AI Rank is a composite score from backtested Sharpe, Sortino, and Calmar ratios. A score of 1.0 means the strategy meets all three standard benchmarks. Use it to compare strategies — not as a promise of future returns.

5

Configure your bot

Each bot has configurable parameters — things like contract quantity, take-profit target, stop-loss threshold, and strike selection delta. The dashboard shows a description of each parameter and its effect on the strategy.

Key settings to understand before you start:

Quantity

Number of contracts per trade. Start with 1. Each SPX contract controls a $100 notional spread. Increasing quantity multiplies both potential profit and potential loss proportionally.

Take-profit %

The percentage of max premium received at which the bot closes the position for a profit. A 50% take-profit on a $2.00 credit means the bot exits when the position can be bought back for $1.00.

Stop-loss %

The loss threshold at which the bot exits to cap the drawdown. Monitored in real time. Setting a tighter stop reduces max loss but can result in more frequent early exits on normal intraday swings.

6

Paper trade first

Paper mode runs the full bot logic — entry signals, take-profit orders, stop-loss monitoring, time-based exits — using live market prices, but no real orders are placed and no real money is at risk. It is the safest way to learn how a strategy behaves before committing capital.

We recommend paper trading a strategy for at least 3–4 weeks and observing at least 10–15 trade cycles before going live. Pay attention to:

  • How the bot behaves around high-volatility events (FOMC, CPI, earnings)
  • Whether stop-losses are triggering more than expected
  • Average premium collected vs. average loss on stopped-out trades
  • Whether the strategy fits your schedule — some bots enter at specific times of day

Paper fills assume mid-price execution, which is slightly more favorable than what you'll typically get on live orders. Factor that in when evaluating paper results — live performance may differ slightly.

Don't paper trade just one — build your portfolio in paper first

There is no single strategy that wins in every market condition. Trending days favor directional spreads; sideways markets favor iron condors and calendars; high VIX rewards wider premium collection. The traders who perform consistently over time run a diversified mix — different structures, different DTEs, different market regimes. TBT lets you run multiple bots simultaneously at no extra cost. Use your paper period to test several strategies at once. When you go live, you'll have real forward-test data to build your portfolio with confidence instead of guessing.

7

Upgrade and go live

When you're confident in a strategy from paper trading, upgrade to a live subscription from your dashboard. Once active, switch the bot from paper to live mode in the dashboard — from that point, all bot actions place real orders in your tastytrade account.

A few things to confirm before flipping to live:

  • Your tastytrade account has sufficient buying power for the quantity you've configured
  • You have the correct options approval level for the strategy
  • You've reviewed and understand the stop-loss and take-profit settings
  • You know what the maximum possible loss on a single trade is for your quantity
  • You are comfortable with that loss occurring

Start with 1 contract in live mode regardless of what you ran in paper. Real fills, real slippage, and real market conditions can feel different from paper. Scale up only after you're comfortable with live execution.

8

Monitor your account — always

The bots handle all entries, exits, and stop-losses automatically. But automation is not a replacement for active account oversight. Options positions — especially short premium — can move fast, and you are always responsible for what is open in your account.

You can log in from any device, including your phone, to check on open positions, start or stop a bot, or review recent trades. We recommend checking your account at least once during the trading day while bots are active.

Mobile dashboard

Sign in from a phone and you're automatically taken to a lightweight mobile view built for quick checks on the go — no pinching and zooming through the full desktop layout. It shows your balance (or today's/open P&L in Paper mode), every open position grouped by bot with a one-tap Close button (set your price and fill speed right there), and big on/off toggles for your auto bots. Need something the mobile view doesn't have — editing a bot's params, viewing full trade history, charts? Tap the icon in the top bar for the full desktop dashboard; it'll remember that choice until you close the browser tab.

Enable browser desktop notifications

The dashboard can pop a native OS notification whenever a bot closes a trade — no app install required. The first time you click anywhere in the dashboard, your browser will ask "Allow notifications from tastybottastic.com?" — click Allow. After that, every trade close shows a toast notification with the bot name and P&L (e.g. ✅ CPS Bull — Paper | +$95.00) whether or not you're looking at the dashboard tab. Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on Windows and Mac.

Note: If you accidentally clicked Block, go to your browser's site settings for tastybottastic.com and reset notifications to Allow, then reload the page.

Set up mobile push notifications (ntfy)

For phone alerts when the dashboard is not open, use the free ntfy app. Click the Settings (⚙) icon in the top bar, scroll to the Notifications section, and enter a unique topic name in the Push Notification Topic field (e.g. tastybot-yourname). Click Send Test to verify it works. Then install the free ntfy app on your phone (iOS or Android), tap Subscriptions → Add, and subscribe to the same topic name. Losses arrive as high-priority alerts.

Review your P&L weekly — identify patterns in wins and losses to refine your settings over time

Why TBT-managed stop-losses can outperform native stop orders

tastytrade does not support resting stop orders on multi-leg spreads as a unit — a stop on an individual leg can leave the other leg orphaned, creating unintended risk. TBT instead monitors the true spread mark price in real time. When the stop threshold is crossed, we immediately issue a closing limit order and use our fast-fill step methodology — starting at the current market price and aggressively working the order toward a fill with cancel-replace steps. This avoids market-order slippage and typically results in a better closing fill than a native stop market order would produce.

Stop-loss monitoring requires our platform to be running. Take-profit orders are resting limit orders at tastytrade and will fill even if our servers are temporarily unreachable. Always know what's open in your account and have a plan if you cannot access the platform.

In fast-moving markets, fills cannot be guaranteed at the stop-loss level — prices can gap through a limit order before it executes. This is why we strongly recommend defined-risk spreads for all automated strategies. With a defined-risk spread, your maximum possible loss is fixed and known before the trade is placed — regardless of how fast the market moves.

9

Pin your dashboard as a standalone app

You can run your dashboard in its own borderless window — no browser tabs, no address bar — and pin it to your taskbar just like a native app. This works in both Edge and Chrome.

1

Open your dashboard, then click the menu in the top-right corner:

  • Edge: click AppsInstall this site as an app
  • Chrome: click Cast, save and shareInstall page as app
2

Give it a name (e.g. TBT Dashboard) and click Install. It opens in its own window immediately.

3

Right-click the app in your taskbar and select Pin to taskbar. It'll be there every time you log in.
